Katherine Tong currently serves as Product Counsel for Google DeepMind. In this role, she is responsible for counseling teams focused on applying DeepMind’s cutting-edge AI/ML research to Google’s broad portfolio of products and infrastructure. Prior to DeepMind, Katherine supported Google's cloud computing business. As a commercial counsel, she negotiated and closed over $XB of cloud agreements, including publicly announced engagements with AT&T, KeyBank, Dell, and J.B. Hunt. As a product counsel, Katherine advised teams developing Cloud's data analytics, AI/ML, consulting, and cybersecurity offerings on a wide range of legal issues to enable product launches to Google's X billion enterprise customers and end users. She also counseled the responsibility teams that identify and mitigate ethical and socio-technical risks related to the deployment of AI and generative AI.

Prior to Google, Katherine represented businesses in corporate matters and commercial litigation, and externed for Judge Stephen Hillman at the U.S. District Court, Central District of California. Katherine is active in the pro bono community and serves on the board of a local nonprofit. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern California, and a J.D. from Loyola Marymount University.
