Noreen Farrell is the Executive Director of Equal Rights Advocates (ERA), a national non-profit advancing the rights of women and girls through policy reform, litigation, community education, and movement building. She is a nationally recognized leader and innovator on a variety of gender justice issues. She has represented thousands of women and girls in groundbreaking impact litigation to end sex discrimination in school and the workplace, including before the U.S. Supreme Court. Noreen also leads ERA’s state and national policy reform campaigns to improve the lives of women and girls and their families. She co-founded and chairs the national Equal Pay Today Campaign, working with 30+ organizations in dozens of states and at the federal level to close the gender wage gap for women of color and low-paid workers. Noreen also serves a Founding Partner of the Closing the Women Wealth Gap Initiative. At the state level, Noreen founded and leads a women’s economic security campaign called Stronger California: Securing Economic Opportunities for All Women with dozens of statewide coalitions to drive comprehensive policy reform setting trends for states across the country. Unified behind a single policy agenda, this cross-sector network has promoted dozens of policy and budget reforms to help women and families build assets and access childcare, end pay disparities and open access to high pay jobs, address sexual harassment and other inequalities hindering job prosperity, and promote family friendly workplaces. ERA-driven wins include some of the nation’s strongest laws on fair pay and sexual harassment in the workplace. Noreen lectures and publishes widely on civil rights and economic justice matters, as hosts a virtual event series called Real Talk. She is regularly featured in media outlets, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Huffington Post, Fortune, The Information, Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan, National Public Radio, PBS NewsHour, MSNBC, and other television programs. She has been named one of the Top Women Leaders in Law, Top Labor & Employment Lawyers, Top 100 Women Lawyers in California, and a Top Legal Innovator.
