Melissa Scanlan is a Vice President on the T-Mobile Legal Affairs team, responsible for managing antitrust, intellectual property (transactional and litigation), and related complex commercial litigation. She oversees teams working corporate transactions that implicate compliance with the antitrust laws, advocating before federal and state agencies. She was responsible for the antitrust strategy that led to the successful merger of T-Mobile and Sprint in April of 2020. She also advises on antitrust compliance relating to all aspects of wireless telecommunications business initiatives. In addition, she leads a team that handles the full range of intellectual property issues, directing strategy and advising on IP assets and liabilities, as well as litigation and risk management.
She is the Co-Founder and Chapter Leader for ChIPs Pacific Northwest, which is an organization that advances and connects women in technology, law and policy.
Prior to joining T-Mobile, she was Assistant General Counsel at InfoSpace, Inc., responsible for management of complex commercial litigation and general legal issues.
Melissa began her legal career as an associate at Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C., practicing litigation and antitrust law. She earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1991, where she served as an editor on the Yale Law Journal.
