Barbara Gault is the Vice President and Executive Director of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, a non-partisan think tank based in Washington, DC. Her work focuses on increasing gender diversity in innovation and patenting, policies to promote access to postsecondary education and early care and education, improved job quality for low-wage workers, and employment equity. She founded IWPR’s Student Parent Success Initiative, which seeks to improve college access for low-income parents. Her recent publications include Equity in Innovation: Women Inventors and Patents, Innovation and Intellectual Property Among Women Entrepreneurs, and Investing in Single Mothers’ Higher Education: Costs and Benefits to Individuals, Families, and Society. This past April, Barbara testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property on the importance of gender diversity in patenting and innovation. She speaks regularly and is frequently quoted in media outlets such as Forbes, The Atlantic, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and NPR. She received her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and her B.A. from the University of Michigan.
