Emily Hostage is a Senior Vice President and oversees Burford Capital's pipeline of new investment opportunities in technology and intellectual property. She is also the Head of Special Projects company-wide, in which role she operationalizes senior management’s vision on major projects such as long-range planning and new initiatives.
Prior to joining Burford, Emily was Vice President of Strategic Analytics and Policy at RPX Corporation, a leading global provider of patent risk management services. At RPX, she managed a team of researchers evaluating patent lawsuits and forecasting risk to potential licensees. Previously, Emily practiced law at Arnold & Porter, where she represented technology clients in patent, copyright and trade secret litigation cases, and she was Corporate Counsel at Alta Devices, a late-stage start-up solar technology company.
Emily graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she also served as Executive Director of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. She earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Boston University.
