Kathi Cover, Counsel at Sidley Austin LLP, focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation before district courts, PTAB, and the Federal Circuit. At the same time, she is pursuing an LLM in Food and Agriculture Law in order to combine her professional background in intellectual property with her personal interest in supporting emerging technologies that will produce a cleaner, kinder food system. She has served for many years as the co-chair of the East Coast (now DC) Chapter of ChIPs, and is part of the Advisory Board for BEACON DC, a collaboration between the DC Mayor's Office, Google, and Georgetown Law supporting women entrepreneurs.

Prior to rejoining Sidley, Kathi worked for eleven years as Vice President – Intellectual Property, and Assistant General Counsel for iBiquity Digital Corporation. There, she was instrumental in building the HD Radio intellectual property portfolio and contributing to the successful licensing and litigation strategy of the business. Kathi was responsible for all aspects of intellectual property, including protection, strategy, counseling and litigation. She also worked on privacy issues, export controls, and a variety of other legal issues.

Prior to joining iBiquity, Kathi was an associate at Sidley Austin focused primarily on patent infringement litigation and appellate work. Two of her favorite years as a young lawyer were spent clerking for Chief Judge Sharon Prost when she first joined the Federal Circuit.

Kathi lives on a farm in Central Maryland with her horse, chickens, and two Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. When she is not tending to the land and animals, she enjoys swimming, biking and running. Kathi has completed seven Ironman distance triathlons, a 50K trail marathon, and numerous other races of varying terrains and distances.
