Sonia Cooper, Assistant General Counsel at Microsoft, has over 20 years of experience advising on intellectual property and innovation in the tech sector, specialising in Artificial Intelligence. A Chartered and European Patent Attorney, Sonia was previously Head of Patents at Skype. Sonia has been patent counsel for Microsoft Research in Cambridge and now leads IP policy in the Open Innovation Team for Microsoft. Sonia is a Past President of IP Federation and chairs the federation’s Data and Copyright Committee. Sonia is the Data lead for Open UK and is a passionate advocate for open data.
