Brynly Llyr is the head of Blockchain and Digital Assets at the World Economic Forum, leading the Crypto Innovation Sustainability Accelerator. Brynly joined the Forum from cLabs where she was General Counsel and part of the founding team of Celo, a mobile-first blockchain platform designed to support financial inclusion around the globe. Before joining cLabs in 2018, Brynly was General Counsel at cryptocurrency technology company Ripple. Brynly joined Ripple after 5 years as senior counsel at eBay and PayPal, leading high profile litigation relating to antitrust and regulatory matters. While at PayPal, Brynly also worked with, and advised on patent and technology, M&A and a variety of other areas.  

Before moving in-house, Brynly was litigation counsel at O’Melveny & Myers (San Francisco). Brynly clerked in the Northern District of CA for the Honorable Fern M. Smith and graduated Order of the Coif from Berkeley Law. 


Brynly is passionate about bridging the wealth gap and supporting responsible innovation and market competition. She is a frequent speaker on topics including blockchain, cryptocurrency and financial inclusion, and an adjunct Professor at Berkeley Law. She is a foster parent and board member of SFCASA, an organization advocating for abused and neglected children in foster care.
