Hermine is the Director of the Coinbase Institute and Director of Policy at Coinbase where she works to advance the research and public debate around crypto and web3. Previously, she served at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission where she worked on rulemakings throughout the agency for broker-dealers, public companies, investment advisors, exchanges, alternative trading systems (ATSs), and investment companies. At the Office of Management and Budget within the Executive Office of the President, Hermine served as an Assistant General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel, and as a Policy Analyst in the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. She started her federal career as a Special Legal Advisor and Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of State. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School and her Bachelors of Arts in French and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
