Jennifer Yokoyama is Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Cloud + AI at Microsoft. She was promoted to this position in July 2021 from her previous role as VP and DGC for the IP Group. In this new role, Jen leads the legal strategy and execution for Microsoft’s Cloud + AI engineering team, overseeing a group that provides legal strategy, support, counseling, and execution across a vast spectrum of legal and regulatory issues. She directs all parts of the CELA Cloud + AI team—including Azure, Cloud Operations and Innovation, Data Center Infrastructure and Operations, Commerce and Ecosystems, Microsoft Federal, Mixed Reality, Developer Division, Business Applications, Data Platform, AI Platform, Microsoft Digital, and GitHub—towards the goal of achieving more in a trusted and responsible way around the world. Prior to joining Microsoft, Jennifer was principal counsel for patent litigation at Apple, where her focus was on the management of complex multi–jurisdictional patent, competition and FRAND-based disputes, with a special emphasis on Asia, where she was responsible for the APAC litigation docket.
