Carole started her career at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where she was an associate in the business and securities litigation department. Carole then moved to Whitman, Breed Abbot & Morgan to work in the litigation department. While there she switched practice areas and joined the intellectual property group, where she focused on trademark prosecution, clearance, enforcement, licensing and litigation. She then moved to Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel where her practice was focused primarily on all aspects of trademark, trade name, and trade dress law, including foreign and domestic prosecution, clearance, litigation, inter partes proceedings, licensing, transactional and enforcement matters. She also counseled clients in copyright law, internet and domain name issues, and unfair competition matters. Carole is currently Vice President and Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property, Litigation and Privacy at Ascena. As such, she is responsible for the development and execution of strategies for brand growth and the handling all aspects of intellectual property matters that arise in the company, including intellectual property disputes and litigation, the managing of the LOFT, ANN TAYLOR, LOU & GREY and LANE BRYANT trademark portfolios both internationally and domestically, domain name, advertising and social media counseling, copyright fabric and design counseling, and drafting and negotiating talent, blogger and other intellectual property related agreements. As head of Litigation & Privacy at the Company she is responsible for managing all litigation and pre-litigation disputes and privacy compliance.
